Section 1A Prize – Results and causes

Winner: Janet Makaev, Land clearing:-the death of trees, graphite on paper, 98 x 68cm

Inside a frame are mounted 6 black and white drawings each set underneath and to the right of the one above so the drawings step to the right. They show an earthmover approaching, then tearing down, trees.

Section 1B Prize – People who harm the environment (Caricatures – satire highlighting social or community irresponsibility)

Winner: Dan Withey, Steering the environment, acrylic on canvas 90 x 120cm

Section 3 Prize – Natural Environment – Endangered or threatened fauna or flora (ideally in their natural environment)

The Solar Art Prize Material Prizes were $3,000 vouchers each for Natural Technology Systems products and services.

Material Prize – a) oil/acrylic

Winner: Terry MacDermot, Blah Blah Blah, mixed media, 54 x 103cm

1 Under dim grey skies and a pale white sun is a black layer of buildings overhung with electricity wires. Under them is a red layer and below that, a grey layer marred with grey dribbles origininating from the damaged red layer.
