Exhibition opened by The Right Honourable The Lord Mayor of Adelaide, Martin Haese

The 8th Solar Art Prize exhibition was opened Sunday 29 October by The Right Honourable The Lord Mayor of Adelaide, Martin Haese.

A video of his speech is showing at the RSASA gallery in the First Floor of the Institute Building at the corner of Kintore Avenue and North Terrace.

The Lord Mayor addressed a crowd of 170 enthusiastic art lovers.
He spoke of the important part art plays in communicating environmental, cultural and social issues.
He also described the excellent position Adelaide and South Australia holds in world opinion in adopting sustainable energy practices (with 31% of households using solar panels) while growing the economy.
The consensus from everyone, judges and visitors alike, was how high the standard of work was this year.
The diversity and imagination was outstanding.  Another feature of this exhibition was how many country artists had entered from as far away as Elliston and Penola,  The prize is open to all South Australians –  – Pip Fletcher curator
